This was a project where we were to research a problem and find a solution. Forced coercion is a big problem in the Norwegian psychiatry. The goal of this book was to represent the feeling people get when they are restricted with belts in psychiatric hospitals. In it, you will find interviews, facts and art regarding mechanical restraints in form of belts.
I focused very much on the material when creating this book. I wanted it to be almost uncomfortable to go through. The cover is made with bible paper, so it is very thin, and the opposite of what normal book covers are made with. The next paper is skin like and has lots of texture, while the middle pages have a more natural and organic feel with lots of details in it. Over the book, there is a cover made with tracing paper, where you are supposed to rip it open and "set it free".
