It is key for graphic designers to allow material and techniques to play a vital part when sending out a message. Graphic design and visual communication practice is not isolated to the creation of “graphics” alone.
This brief asked us to come up with an idea for a “printed matter”. The design had to celebrate materiality and physicality of print: im-print! im-press!
We had to show strong consideration for paper, hot stamping foils in addition to print and the finishing.
It was a brief in collaboration with G.F Smith, FoilCo and Baddeley Brothers.
I decided to show how print can be 3 dimensional. Furthermore, I wanted to show that paper is like gemstones, it comes from nature, is worked on and made to perfection.
